Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Pūkenga - Lecturer in Teacher Education with a specialisation in Science and Mathematics Education to join Te Puna Akopai - School of Education in a permanent, full-time role.
This position is open to applicants interested in being appointed on the Principal Academic Pathway or the Teaching Intensive Pathway. Applicants are asked to identify which pathway they prefer as part of their letter of application.
Applicants would be expected to be New Zealand registered teachers who could undertake visiting of Student Teachers on Professional Practice Placements in schools.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD and be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level across the primary and secondary teacher education programmes.
The appointees will also supervise Masters and PhD students, and provide service to the School, Faculty, University, community, and profession.
Applicants seeking to be appointed on the Principal Academic Pathway would be expected to maintain a programme of research and work to secure external research funding. We welcome applications from people with research and/or teaching experience in Māori or Pasifika communities and schools. The School of Education maintains a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will have experience of and knowledge about successful teaching in a relevant field at tertiary level or with adult learners. You will also have good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students, practicing teachers, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. You will need to have current or eligibility to gain teacher registration. This is a permanent position and only applicants who are legally entitled to work in Aotearoa on a permanent basis, will be considered.
