We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Advisor who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. This role plays a crucial role in supporting our students' well-being and academic development and success. AUT counsellors and mental health advisors carry out assessments and provide solution-focused therapeutic interventions. Our team works closely with other support services to provide a holistic and wrap-around support for students with additional needs.

We are looking for an experienced clinician who may come from a youth, educational, statutory, or community setting and has a proven ability to provide professional therapy. AUT is keen to employ people who may contribute to the diversity of the university and are passionate about the wellbeing of tertiary learners.

We have two 12-month fixed term positions available - one based primarily at the City Campus, one based primarily at the South Campus.

As an experienced mental health professional with proven success in a therapeutic role, you will also bring:

  • A demonstrated commitment in your practice to Te Reo Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori.
  • A demonstrated commitment in your practice to Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant health profession such as social work, counselling, psychology, nursing, occupational therapy or similar.
  • Current annual practicing certificate.
  • Minimum of five year's clinical experience post qualification, as a counsellor or health professional within mental health, providing therapeutic intervention, assessment, and case management.
