Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an administrator to work as a Mauri Ora Coordinator within the Support Team on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 11 months. Our busy team supports Victoria University of Wellington’s Student Health and Student Counselling services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Mauri Ora’s customer student facing reception is operated efficiently with a welcoming and professional manner. This includes reception duties and phone answering in a medical environment.
  • Student information is gathered accurately at every opportunity and records are updated and maintained.
  • Assisting with data and information analysis and processing.
  • Undertaking the financial administration tasks associated with student appointments.
  • Undertake a range of other administrative tasks as required and provide support to key projects from time to time, including quality and improvement initiatives.

You will have a customer service mindset and administrative skills with a desire to learn. You will have a bubbly personality, and excellent communication skills with an ability to work with and empathise with a student population with a keen attention to detail. You will have the ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You will be a proficient and confident user of technology.

This role is busy and challenging at times but also extremely rewarding and interesting for the individual with the right temperament. A good sense of humour will go a long way.

Preference is given to candidates available for an immediate start.

Key Requirements:

  • Outstanding customer relationship management experience and proven experience in front-line reception work in a medical, counselling, or similar customer focused environment.
  • Proven experience in administration work, work processes, records and information management.
  • Proven experience with windows-based computer packages including Microsoft Office.
  • Proven experience with general office procedures and equipment (e.g., photocopier, fax, phones, filing systems).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in working effectively in a multicultural environment.
