Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for two permanent, full-time Library Assistant positions.

Library Assistant, Collection Access - This role will be responsible for delivering material to clients via the Library’s resource delivery services and undertaking a range of operational activities which support the access and discoverability of the Library’s physical collections.

Library Assistant, Resource and Acquisitions - This role will be responsible for the purchasing and processing of the Library’s collections in all formats and undertaking a range of operational activities which support the access and discoverability of the library’s electronic and physical resources.

You will:

Key Requirements:

  • The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, such as the lifting and movement of books and other material around the Library.
  • The ability to respond to a diverse range of client needs.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and demonstrated ability to develop proficiency in new software applications.

Have demonstrated:

  • Experience working effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and appropriately, both orally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
  • Experience of being well organised and accurate with daily tasks.
  • Experience providing high quality customer service.
