The School of Sport and Recreation within AUT University is a growing and vibrant school with over 80 staff and 1,000 students, offering programmes from certificate to PhD level across multiple discipline areas. We require an experienced Lecturer who can teach physical activity and health within the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students.

This is a 0.8FTE 3-year fixed-term appointment. This position will require teaching across our Certificate, Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes, where sport and exercise are key components of student learning.

The purpose of this role is to:

  • Provide quality teaching, supervision, research, and industry engagement in the sport and recreation programmes offered within the School of Sport and Recreation - specifically the Sport and Exercise Science major of the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation, and with contributions to the certificate and Masters programmes.
  • Deliver high-quality education that meets the diverse needs of students across different levels of learning, industry and professional groups, through leadership and innovative teaching and research.
  • Ensure a committed approach to delivering on a programme that values student-centred approaches to teaching and learning.

The appointee will contribute to the development of content across all the programme offerings and will be expected to contribute to the research publication and profile of the School of Sport and Recreation.

Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand and have experience teaching across different programme levels.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $101,000 (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
