Position Overview

The School of Agriculture and Environment, Massey University , welcomes expressions of interest to apply for a position in the Animal Science group as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Animal Reproduction and Lactation.  

Te tūnga | The role

The purpose of this position is to provide the learning and qualification outcomes of Massey's students and the scholarly outputs of the University by contributing to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and the supervision of postgraduate students in reproduction and lactation.  The role also requires the development of an active research programme and engagement in the successful pursuit of external research funding. 

The salary ranges for this role are between $81,172 - $157,025 (NZD) and the salary will be negotiable by positional background/experience.

  • The successful applicant will have a strong knowledge in Animal Reproduction and Lactation with an extensive track record of involvement in relevant research programmes. 
  • Capability in Molecular Genetics and/or Genomics would be complementary to the role but, is not essential.
  • A PhD in Animal Science with the ability to teach in the outlined areas is essential. 
  • Experience with experimental and laboratory techniques and methodologies associated with animal reproductive and lactational physiology is necessary, as is an understanding of applied animal management in reproduction and lactation.  
  • A good understanding of New Zealand and global Animal Science and Production will be beneficial.  
  • The successful applicant will also need to have experience in relevant data analysis methods pertaining to animal science.  
  • A practical understanding of working within a research, extension and teaching environment is important.
