The role/Te mahi

Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time Indigenous Business and Entrepreneurship Lecturer position. We seek applicants with expertise in the field of indigenous management and entrepreneurship. 

Preference will be given to candidates with primary or secondary expertise in traditional Pacific knowledges and business practices. Additional consideration will be given for demonstrated potential in advancing (i.e., leading the design and delivery of) innovative and culturally responsive teaching methods to create an engaging and student-centred learning environment that integrates real-world Pacific business practices and case studies into coursework, highlighting the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Pacific businesses and entrepreneurs.

Successful candidates will advise and mentor students with academic learning activities and career goals related to business and entrepreneurship, with a sensitivity to Pacific cultural values and aspirations. Also, the successful applicant will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching offered by the Department. 

Supervision of postgraduate research students at Master’s, DBA and PhD level is also part of this role. 

Candidates will be expected to develop an independent and productive research programme in the areas of business, management and entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on initiatives and research relevant to Pacific Indigenous communities.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

•    A PhD degree in a topic area related to Indigenous context, entrepreneurship, and methodologies is essential.
•    Proven track record of publication in high-quality journals.
•    Success in obtaining external research funding.
•    Demonstrated quality and commitment to teaching topics related to business and entrepreneurship at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
•    Experience and commitment to engaging with industry and entrepreneurs in ways that can enhance student learning.

Candidates who have not yet fully developed these skills and experience should be able to provide evidence of their potential to do so if they were appointed to the position.

The appointment range for a Lecturer is $90,902 to $107,300.
