The Department of Mathematical Sciences within the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT is seeking to appoint three permanent full-time lecturers in Mathematics. Candidates should have a PhD and a track record of research success in an area of Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.  Preference will be given to candidates with strong research and teaching interests in mathematical computation and numerical analysis, mathematical modelling in finance, mathematical modelling in health, biology or the environment, industrial optimization and operations research.

The start date will be in February 2024 or by negotiation.

The position involves conducting high quality research, and teaching and development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the department's mathematical programme as well as service teaching in mathematics for science and engineering. A successful applicant will be expected to contribute to research and postgraduate supervision in one or more of the above-mentioned areas through her/his specialist field and take a leading role in teaching mathematics for science and engineering. The salary level offered, and related workload conditions will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences has undergraduate programmes with two majors in Analytics and in Mathematical Modelling and Computation. The Department also runs postgraduate programmes in Mathematical Sciences. As one of four departments within the School, the Department provides a wide range of service teaching in Mathematics and Statistics at all levels. The School currently has 2800 equivalent full-time students and 110 permanent academic staff with approximately 200 PhD students.

Salary:  $85,000 - $101,000 (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
