Two full-time roles at 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE): 

  • 1 X 12-month fixed term Intermediate with 4 years experience
  • 1 X 12-month fixed term Associate with 1.5 years experience

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

You will work in agile teams progressing one of UC's high-profile internal projects - mobile development using React Native with a back end in Azure. We are seeking applicants at intermediate and associate levels for 2 roles across this project.

Our projects have a focus on improving the UC experience for both students and staff. You will participate in detailed design sessions and build innovative software that complies with coding standards. We see code quality as everyone's concern, so you will be comfortable developing high-quality code, and test code as well as feature code. Depending on your experience, you may be involved in leading feature development, and improving our internal processes.

In this role you will be building your skills and professional experience by seeking and engaging with formal and informal learning opportunities.

Mōu | Who You Are
You have commercial software development experience or hold a relevant post-graduate qualification.

As our team works in an agile manner, it's important that you are adaptable, enjoying working in a collaborative environment, have an eye for detail, and can communicate effectively.

Software developers at UC can expect to use a variety of languages, frameworks and tools throughout their career. For this project, experience with several of the following would be an advantage:

  • Mobile development with React Native
  • Front-end web application development with React, NodeJS and Typescript
  • Back-end application/web service development with NodeJS and .Net Core, including API design
  • Microservice development, and asynchronous event-based programming
  • Azure Platform as a Service application development, including APIM, Azure networking and Event Hub
  • Source control with Git, and CI/CD tools and techniques, as well as unit and automated testing
  • Domain Driven Design
  • DevOps & Site Reliability Engineering
  • Integration with internal and external systems
