Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Future Student Adviser on a permenant, full-time contract. The role of the Future Student Adviser is to increase the number of domestic students at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington by promoting and providing information about the University and its programmes, with the aim of increasing participation, preparation, enrolment and the smooth transition of prospective students to university study.   Future Student Advisers work across the whole of New Zealand, recruiting future students (incl Māori, Pasifika, postgraduate and post-experience students) and working with secondary schools and communities.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present engaging presentations to audiences from 5 to 500 people across various mediums.
  • Provide holistic course advice and information about the University’s programmes and services to support future students’ smooth transition to university study.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of our future student events.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with key people and organisations.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You are passionate about working with young people and helping them achieve their goals. You will be available to travel around Aotearoa to present to and engage with future students and their whānau. You will use your experience in people facing roles to engage, inspire and to promote study at Victoria University of Wellington.

We seek a full-time, customer-focused and enthusiastic Future Student Adviser with a strong connection to Victoria University of Wellington and/or Wellington City to join our Future Student team. You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes contributing positively to a high performing team and is also able to work autonomously.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in the NZ tertiary and/or secondary sector.
  • University qualification.
  • Full, clean driver’s licence.
  • Experience in marketing or recruitment services and event management.
  • Availability to travel outside Wellington and for working evenings and weekends.
  • Connection with Victoria University of Wellington and/or Wellington city an advantage.
