  • Full-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)

What You Will Do

The Faculty of Education supports its students and graduates to not only achieve academically but also to develop attributes related to employability and entrepreneurship, bicultural confidence, global awareness and engagement with the community.

Reporting to the Academic Services Manager, you will be responsible for the provision of advice and assistance to students relating to degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Education. You will support student development through the provision of individualised support and engagement programmes including monitoring student performance. You will support the Academic Services Manager in activities related to enrolment, admissions, ongoing degree planning and progression, marketing and outreach.

Who You Are
As the successful candidate you will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree/Graduate Diploma (NZQA Level 7)
  • Experience in providing degree-planning advice to students within a tertiary education environment
  • Competence with database management, quantitative analysis and reporting with a knowledge of University regulations, interpretation and application of policies and procedures
  • Excellent work standards, displaying accuracy and attention to detail
  • An understanding of ethics, confidentiality, and pastoral care of students
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of, and experience working in, the international education sector, preferably having worked with international students, international education agents and related stakeholders
  • Understanding the processes and requirements of initial teacher education programmes, including selection and teaching placements
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, cultural differences, multi-cultural and bi-cultural issues.

Who You Will Work With
The Faculty Student Advisors provide academic advice on programmes of study and academic regulations and policies with the Faculty. Academic advising is critical to student success and contributes to the retention, progression, and timely completion of qualifications.
