Position Overview

Students are at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking a positive and energetic Facilities Supervisor to join the Accommodation Services team and help build the residential communities at the Massey Wellington Halls.

In the role of Facilities Supervisor, you will provide and deliver outstanding levels of customer service to our residential communities. The position is permanent and full-time.

This role requires the successful person to juggle competing priorities which requires initiative and a constant eye on improvements. The position is located in our halls in central Wellington.  You will move around the halls of residence daily, as and when required. It is not a desk-bound position. You will be spending time carrying out maintenance tasks, responding to residents’ maintenance requests, inspecting, checking our facilities and the work of contractors and engaging with our resident community.

Our preferred candidate must demonstrate:

  • Trade or handy person experience in maintenance, construction, or a similar area
  • Experience in a residential or hotel environment, ideally in a university or education environment
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and keep an eye on several on-going tasks
  • To be a team player and care about the success of those around you
  • Experience of working in a customer-centric environment with timely responses to requests
  • Intermediate computer skills.

In addition to a competitive salary, Massey also offers:

•    Up to 6.75% employer contribution to the UniSaver Superannuation Scheme

•    Five university holidays per year in addition to your annual leave

•    Subsidised Southern Cross Healthcare plan for you and your family

•    Special staff rates available for campus gym membership

•    Staff purchasing privileges and discounts at many commercial and retail businesses across NZ.

•    Comprehensive professional development and training programmes

This is a varied role, which at times, can be busy and fast-paced. You will need to be a confident communicator, reliable, have strong organisational skills and be able to work in line with university systems, policies, and procedures.

In your covering letter please tell us about your specific experience in relation to the requirements above.

The employment setting will involve work with people across the lifespan and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children’s Workers) Regulations 2015.
