The People and Culture Business Partner role is a new and exciting position created to support leaders and kaimahi at Competenz and is part of Rohe 1 (Region 1). Rohe 1 covers our Te Tai Tokerau | Northland and Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland based divisions.

In this role you will partner with managers and leaders to provide high quality service and reliable advice that supports the success of kaimahi and students. Deliver frameworks, policies, and standards as developed through PCW communities of practice.

The People and Culture Business Partner will report to the People and Culture Manager and will be responsible for:

Partnering with People Leaders across the region, providing guidance on people related processes and employment relations advice ensuring a with a values-based ethos.

Raising capability through coaching, mentoring and providing high quality and consistent advice in relation to best practice. 

Delivering people, culture and wellbeing strategy initiatives and workplan deliverables aligned with national priorities, plans and policies, and identifying regional insights that enable learning and continuous improvement.

Demonstrating commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity, supporting our leaders to grow a culturally responsive and inclusive workforce, and advocating interests and aspirations for Te Pūkenga priority groups.

To be successful in the role you will:

Be an experienced people and culture expert with, significant knowledge and experience or you maybe ready for your next step into Partnering and wish to build on your Advisory experience.

  • Be able to coach and upskills others
  • Excellent communication skills, in particular the ability to partner with others through relationship building and influencing across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • An added advantage would be previous involvement in developing PCW frameworks, policies, standards and implementing these within the organisation; and a sound understanding of the vocational education sector and RoVE.
