The role/Te mahi As the Associate University Librarian (Māori and Strategic Development), you will lead the development and execution of the Library’s strategies for effective and enduring engagement with iwi, mana whenua and iwi Māori to advance Library services for Māori students and staff. You will make a major contribution to library policy and planning as a member of the Library’s Executive Management Group. This role represents an exciting opportunity to join the University of Otago in working towards achieving Māori student and staff equity goals and ensuring Te Tiriti o Waitangi underpins all our Library’s work. • Ensuring the Library connects with relevant Māori stakeholder engagement activities taking place across the University within both academic and service divisions.
• Advising and leading on strategic developments and initiatives across Library departments.
• Developing strategies and performance indicators to measure achievement towards Māori objectives.
• Providing leadership and management for the Strategic Development team and ensuring staff capabilities and competences are in place.
• Developing and overseeing the implementation of plans to raise the cultural competencies of staff.
• Broad and deep experience of Te Ao Māori, including competency in Te Reo Māori and leadership in tikanga.
• Substantial knowledge of Mātauranga Māori.
• Extensive relevant experience working in a management team in a library, cultural or related service-oriented organisation.
• Experience developing innovative solutions and practical implementations for strategic organisational and service change.
• Ability to contribute to planning at operational and strategic levels.
• Knowledge of digital and collection services within a university library context (an advantage)
• Understanding of the research process and teaching and learning in a University setting (an advantage).
