ARANA COLLEGE | TE WHARE O ARANA Otago is famous for its residential college communities supporting thousands of mostly first-year students as they begin their tertiary journey at the University of Otago. Established in 1943, Te Whare o Arana (Arana College) is a 342-bed college where the Tautiaki-Kaiāwhina plays a central role in sharing the Arana manaakitanga to everyone. Our main aim is to foster a strong sense of whanaungatanga as an essential foundation for learning and personal growth of Arana tauira. The role / Te mahi Tautiaki-Kaiāwhina (Assistant Wardens) are key members of the College pastoral and welfare team. With a focus on wellbeing / oraka, they provide culturally appropriate opportunities for residents to experience cultural, sporting, academic and personal development in a positive college environment. The position is live-in and requires a high level of commitment, including being rostered on-call. Accommodation (1-bedroom, 1-bathroom self-contained flat with whiteware) is provided within the College and the total remuneration package for this position includes full compensation for all accommodation costs. The salary range for this role is $65,281 to $69,648, top of range is $74,947 per annum. The University is committed to meeting its obligations under the Children’s Act 2014 and the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. • Experience in the tertiary sector would be a distinct advantage.
