We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced aquatic ecology technician for a permanent position in our Hamilton office to support a range of largely freshwater projects. Key tasks will include but not be limited to:

- Carrying out underwater vegetation surveys
- Invertebrate and freshwater fish sampling
- Use of specialised environmental monitoring instruments
- Data collation, analysis and archiving
- Database curation
- Report and scientific paper writing
- Proposal preparation and project management of small to medium-sized projects
You will need to have qualifications in an ecological science or a related field and several years' relevant experience working in an environmental management or science role. You must have diving and boating experience and preferably be familiar with aquatic plant identification and surveying. Experience in freshwater invertebrate and fish sampling, including electric fishing, would be an advantage as would familiarity with environmental monitoring instrumentation. You will need to be able to work flexible hours and undertake field trips lasting several days away from Hamilton.
