The role/Te mahi

Located at the University of Otago Christchurch (UOC) campus, this role provides effective and efficient administrative support to existing and new Interprofessional Education (IPE) initiatives across Health Professional programmes. IPE is an innovative approach that brings students of different health professions together to learn with, from and about each other so they work well together as graduates. 

Playing an important front- facing role in the UOC IPE team, you will work alongside an academic teacher to coordinate and support delivery of IPE activity following established Centre and University policy and practice. Strong working relationships with students, staff and external stakeholders are key to success in this role, along with sound attention to detail and event organising skills. 

This role is part of a wider Divisional Service & Administration team supporting Interprofessional Education programmes in the Division of Health Sciences.

Your relationship building skills will be important, as will a strong customer service focus ensuring that you work efficiently and effectively with students and University staff, and with external groups including staff and students as required. 

Successful candidates will:
•    Have proven experience in an advanced administration role where high levels of customer service delivery and confidentiality are expected.
•    Show proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programmes and be open to learning other online platforms in support of IPE delivery.
•    Be able to communicate clearly in writing to a wide range of people (professional and academic staff at all levels, students, external partner organisations of the IPE Centre).
•    Exhibit adaptability and solid commitment to programme delivery as the primary point of contact for the IPE Centre in Christchurch.
•    Be someone who consistently pays close attention to detail.
•    Have excellent organisational and time-management skills.
•    Show initiative and be a strong self-starter.
•    Have an interest and/or experience in teaching administration and would enjoy working with academic teaching staff.
•    Have an interest in and enjoy working with young people training to be health professionals.
•    Have experience in managing mini-projects and organising events.

Administrative experience in an academic setting would be an advantage.

This is a 10-month fixed term, part time (18.75 hours a week) position from May 2024 to February 2025, located in Christchurch.  There is some flexibility in the days worked but there are some days where on-site work is a requirement.

These positions are remunerated at Level 4 with an appointment range of $59,285 to $63,651, adjusted pro rata based on the FTE value.
