Job description

As our strategic policy advisor, you’ll support the Dean Graduate School/Director SAI, and EngD Program Directors in further shaping the vision and policy of our EngD programs.
You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the development, refinement and quality of these policies, playing a vital role in charting the course for our collective success, recognition and impact.

The 4TU.School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute (4TU.SAI) is a joint initiative of the Dutch universities of technology: Wageningen University, TU Delft, Eindhoven University of Technology and University of Twente. In 4TU.SAI the quality assurance, policy developments and alignment between 15 EngD programs is realized. The EngD programs at TU/e are offered in the Graduate School headed by a Dean, who is responsible for 13 graduate programs that are each focused on one specific research domain with matching EngD and/or doctorate (PhD) programs. At the national level EngD programs are offered at the universities in Eindhoven, Delft, Twente and Wageningen. After the summer also the University Groningen will start to offer EngD programs.

  • Supporting the Dean Graduate School/Director SAI and the EngD Program Directors in further shaping the vision and policy of the 4TU.SAI at the national level and the TU/e for its own 9 EngD programs.
  • Initiating and coordinating improvement actions following evaluation of EngD programs and  further development of vision on EngD programs.
  • Developing internal quality assurance EngD programs i.r.t. external quality assurance.
  • Aligning of EngD programs within 4TU.SAI.
  • Preparing 4TU.SAI Meetings, General EngD council etc.
  • Ensuring alignment toward industry and government.

In the role of Strategic Advisor, you are part of the Education Cluster (8 persons) within the General Affairs service and you work closely with your colleagues within the team and in SAI, and with the Dean Graduate School and Directors of EngD programs.


Job requirements
  • You have a Master's degree, preferably in a science or engineering discipline.
  • You know how science works and what motivates scientists based on your experience in conducting scientific research.
  • You have some experience in (educational) cooperation with industrial partners.
  • You’re experienced in developing and implementing educational policy in a higher education environment and knowledge of current postgraduation policy dossiers.
  • Your network is vast and relevant and you connect easily with various stakeholders.
  • You communicate fluently and professionally both in English and Dutch.

Conditions of employment

An exciting position within an international yet personal university. You are right in the middle of the students, on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. Besides beautiful architecture, you will find varied workplaces and excellent sports facilities.

We also offer you:

  • A position for 32 to 40 hours a week; working hours in consultation for an optimal work-life balance; this is a 3-year temporary position with an option for a potential extension.
  • A monthly salary of minimum € 4,332 to maximum € 5,929 for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 11 collective labor agreement for Dutch Universities).
  • In addition to vacation pay, a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • A favorable arrangement for more holidays or a sabbatical and a selection model for additional fringe benefits.
