As a Performance Marketer at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), you will have the opportunity to elevate our advertising campaigns to the next level. Your mission is clear: to maximize our online visibility, engagement, and conversion. You will be the key player in our cross-media and holistic approach, utilizing the latest trends and tools to contribute to effective branding and optimally reaching our target audiences. As a Performance Marketer, you will contribute to developing and implementing an effective performance marketing strategy that seamlessly aligns with our organizational goals, brand, and marketing objectives of various target audience teams (e.g., student recruitment, continuing education, recruitment of new colleagues, or a research institute).

Within the Online Marketing Specialists team, you will be responsible for our online advertising channels (SEA, Social Ads, Display & Affiliates); setting up, managing, evaluating, and optimizing campaigns to achieve the most efficient use of our advertising budgets and ROI. Currently, we advertise through Google Ads (including YouTube), Meta, Spotify, Snapchat, and LinkedIn.

By employing a cross-media approach to advertising campaigns, you ensure an effective strategy in relation to the marketing funnel(s) and a seamless connection with other online marketing specialisms. In the team, you will work directly with 4 colleagues responsible for SEO, Social Media, Email Marketing, and CRO. We work hybrid, spending about 50% of our time at the office. Our physical workspace is on Wageningen Campus.

Furthermore, as a Performance Marketer, you will be responsible for:

  • continuously optimizing campaigns through experiments, adjustments based on performance data, internal and external developments, and improving targeting and ad content creation; in collaboration with colleagues such as content and campaign marketers, brand manager, data analysts, and online marketing specialists;
  • continuously monitoring and analyzing campaign performance using Google Analytics and other relevant (analysis) tools to achieve and exceed campaign objectives. In collaboration with the Data Analysis & Market Research team, you will seek the most effective form of data analysis;
  • clearly reporting campaign progress and evaluation to relevant colleagues and making recommendations for further optimizations;
  • ensuring a long-term approach to performance marketing based on our narrative (branding) and the various marketing plans of the target audience teams;
  • proactively involving and advising the organization and target audience teams on innovations and developments in performance marketing and online advertising.

Your qualities

For the role of Performance Marketer, we are looking for someone who is analytical, organizationally sensitive, results-oriented, and curious. You have excellent skills in stakeholder management and can proactively communicate the added value of advertising/performance marketing clearly to our various colleagues.

Additionally, you possess:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's level of thinking and working in (online) marketing;
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in performance marketing (strong in both SEA and Social Advertising), preferably within an agency or educational/knowledge institution;
  • Knowledge and understanding of all relevant advertising platforms, with a natural drive to excel in and stay updated on them;
  • The ability to communicate complex campaign data in an understandable way to colleagues and translate this into concrete actions and advice;
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
  • Affinity with WUR’s areas of expertise.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €3.088 and and €5.035 for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10). The position of Performance Marketeer has been established for 32 hours. You will initially receive a one-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
