As our microelectronics systems administrator, you will set up and maintain the computer systems that power our research. You collaborate, advise and support researchers in their computational and design work. You utilise your knowledge to ensure the functionality of our computer systems.
This role provides you the unique opportunity to work closely with the various research groups within our department and the central IT teams, featuring the latest developments in existing and emerging technologies.
During the initial months, you will be introduced into the ecosystem of the Linux-based computers of our department. You will learn how we setup and maintain them. You will learn how the machines are used by our researchers. What software is used for IC design and Deep learning. As your expertise grows you will acquire in independent role in a large team of technicians with various expertise.

Requirements
Specific Requirements
- You hold a BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- You love to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to computer hardware, software, and networking.
- You have a good understanding of the GNU/Linux operating system (RedHat and Debian based systems).
- You have experience with NFS, Firewalls, Account management, Bash/C Shell, Virtualisation, Python and C.
- You are comfortable with fundamental command-line tools such as ssh, vim, find, awk and grep.
- You like to grow and are willing to learn and adapt to continually improve and optimise IT systems and infrastructure.
- You have good communication and interpersonal skills in English (B2 level), for you will speak English with most of your colleagues.

- A salary based on (scale 10 or 11 € 3.226,- - € 5.929,- gross per month depending of experience) the collective agreement (cao) for Dutch Universities, plus an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.

Additional comments
We offer a one-year/permanent contract for 38 hours a week (1 fte) with a 2-month trial period, which we hope to convert into a permanent contract.
