Your job

As an ICT security coordinator for the Animal Sciences Group of Wageningen University & Research, you strive for optimal information management and information security. Maintaining user-friendliness is central to this. In this way, you contribute to education and groundbreaking research.

In this role, you are responsible for the optimal organization of information management and information security. You ensure the improvement of accessibility and the unlocking of data through efficient and effective data management using applications. You are proactive and advise (and where necessary assist) colleagues on the measures needed to achieve the right information management and security level.

Additionally, you translate the Information Security Policy (IS policy) into operational procedures and coordinate their implementation. It is important that these procedures are embedded in the primary process, making it an integral part of the initiation of each (research) project. In this, you are the linking pin for the Animal Science Group (ASG) between the business and ICT services.

Your tasks and responsibilities as an ICT security coordinator are:

  • (Pro-)actively advising researchers on the use and (further) development of suitable applications/tools for the management and security of (research) data;
  • Providing hands-on support for new security topics such as data classification and secure procurement to shape and promote these topics within the units;
  • Overseeing and improving cybersecurity measures. Conducting risk analyses, reporting findings, and resolving identified risks;
  • Coordinating the handling of ASG-wide security risks, such as phasing out unsafe hardware and software, in coordination with IT contacts through the IT user consultation;
  • Optimizing internal and external ICT services and monitoring these services.

Your team / colleagues

Our modern facilities and highly educated experts ensure that we deliver reliable and scientifically substantiated results and provide university education. You are part of the Data@ASG service team that was established a year ago. You will join the existing committee consisting of the Privacy Officer, the chair of the IT user council, and the Coordinating Data Steward, and contribute to the establishment of an integrated risk management process. Additionally, you are the linking pin for ASG with the Corporate Information Security Officer (C-ISO) and other ISOs, and you contribute to WUR-wide initiatives, including WUR-wide risk analyses and awareness campaigns.


Your qualities

You are proactive, result-oriented, customer-focused, and enterprising. With your overview and persuasiveness, you can balance different interests and communicate effectively. You anticipate developments in information management and security and translate these into practical contributions. Additionally, you help employees find the balance between user-friendliness and security measures. You explain complex technical concepts in an understandable way to a non-technical audience, making you a valuable asset to our team.

You also possess:

  • At least a higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking;
  • A completed education in ICT Management or Security OR demonstrable knowledge and experience with IT, information management, and information security;
  • Affinity with scientific research is a plus;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude. A good command of the Dutch and English languages (level C1) in both spoken and written form.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3.088,- and € 5.737,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10-11 based on experience). Additionally, a contract for 20 - 28 hours can be discussed. You will initially receive a one-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
