The
Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience (CSN) group, part of the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences, is looking for a highly qualified and motivated candidate to support data analysis and ICT as well as recording and stimulation technologies in Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience. Current research of the group focuses on neural mechanisms of perception, multisensory integration and conscious representation.
You will work on advanced analysis of data gathered by electrophysiological high-density recordings, neural imaging with cellular resolution, methods to investigate brain mechanism for representation and consciousness, and on hardware technology. The key objective of this position is to develop software (mostly written in Matlab and Python) and acquire hardware to support ongoing PhD and postdoc projects in the Cognitive & Systems Neuroscience (CSN) group.
What are you going to do?
- develop, implement, maintain and support dedicated data curation and preprocessing pipelines
(for e.g. electrophysiology, 2-photon imaging, behavioral analysis, optogenetics; incl. setting up
software packages in docker containers or on computer clusters) as well as pipelines to format data and
metadata according to international standards;
- develop advanced data analysis methods (e.g. decoding population activity) supporting the research objectives
of the CSN group in the fields of, among others, neural representations, multisensory integration and
consciousness;
- support hardware acquisition and setting up and maintaining software running in experimental and
computational setups (e.g., synchronizing visual and auditory stimulation, behavioral measurements,
electrophysiology, 2-photon imaging, optogenetics, computer simulations);
- support education and management by updating and developing computer practicals and help
organize ICT-related issues arising in relation to research and teaching, and support data exchange
with collaborating labs. You will act as ICT-contact person for the group.
