An ambitious university requires dedicated support to our scientists within the fields of Research Data Management (RDM) and Open Science. This support is provided by the Product Area Research and Library, as part of the Library and Information Services (LIS). Within the product area Research, IT Consultants and Data Stewards closely collaborate in the Research Data Infrastructure lab and the HPC lab to support our research community. And our product area Library contributes to this with Open Science Support.

The position
The data steward team vision is to help researchers with new challenges in a collaborative way, while being an advocate of open & responsible scientific practices that transcend TU/e.We are looking for a Data Steward with good understanding of RDM, knowledge of metadata schemes and experience with ontologies and semantic modelling to strengthen our team. You will serve as first line support for researchers in addressing internal and external requirements with regards to interoperability.

Your tasks and responsibilities are best described as follows:

Support and advise our Researchers on RDM-related issues, such as:

  • Data Management Plans (DMP);
  • Data management paragraphs for grant proposals;
  • Collection, storage, publication and archival of research data;
  • FAIR principles in research data, focusing on interoperability;
  • Defining and implement standards for tools and workflows when working with data.
  • Implementation of metadata standards and ontologies

Support and advise Researchers on privacy-related issues, such as:

  • Informed consent and privacy notices;
  • Evaluating privacy roles within research collaborations and consortia and identifying the needed agreements and documents;
  • Assessing privacy and legal risks (including copyright and licensing) during the entire research lifecycle;
  • Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) in collaboration with the Privacy team;
  • Develop and provide trainings on RDM and privacy/GDPR compliance.

Support and collaborate with your teams and your departments, such as:

  • Being part of the Hub-, data steward-, Product Area Research- team;
  • Achieving team objectives by working together with others;
  • Establish a functional and appropriate services supply chain for researchers in coordination with colleagues of the Product Area Research.
