We are looking for a new staff member to join the small team of the Dutch Thematic Digital Competence Centre for the Natural and Engineering Sciences (TDCC-NES). The TDCC-NES was established in 2022 and has been successfully building a network across the Dutch academic community to formulate and fund collaborative and cross-institutional projects designed to promote FAIR data, research software sustainability, and open research practices, alongside the necessary expertise. Where possible, links are being made between projects in the Dutch community and similar international endeavours. The work is guided by the community-written TDCC-NES roadmap (https://edu.nl/vudxv), and overseen by a Governing Board. As the Community Coordinator for the TDCC-NES, your role will be to build on these foundations, and to facilitate the growth and development of this network to achieve successful projects that can lead and contribute to meaningful developments.
In this position you will work closely with the TDCC-NES Network Manager and TDCC-NES Projects Facilitator, and with experts from different disciplines and with different roles across research in the natural and engineering sciences. These might include software engineers, data stewards, data managers, IT support staff, as well as professors, senior and junior researchers, postdocs, or PhD candidates, all from various disciplines and research institutions in the Netherlands. There is also alignment and collaboration between the TDCC-NES and two other TDCCs for the Life Sciences and Health (LSH), and Social Sciences and Humanties (SSH).
Your main tasks will be:
- Connecting people from different disciplines, infrastructures, resources, and tools, to encourage collaboration and to formulate joint challenges that can be turned into concrete projects.
- Engaging directly with research groups and domain specialists and identifying existing and emerging solutions that can enhance the digital competence of the research domain.
- Organising community-building activities, such as workshops, events, and other means of information sharing (online and in person) to support members of the network in connecting with peers.
- Mapping the infrastructure, existing services, resources, and tools important for the domain.
- Managing the project call process in liaison with the Governing Board, from contributing to the design of the call, through submission and development of project ideas, to coordination of overall TDCC project activities and communication. For this you will be assisted by a Projects Facilitator.
- Ensuring the effective communication of information between the TDCC-NES office and NES network members.
You will be reporting directly to the Governing Board of the TDCC-NES (see https://tdcc.nl/about-tddc/nes/governance/ ).
Your formal appointment will be with TU Delft, the legal entity of 4TU.ResearchData, which hosts the TDCC-NES. TU Delft is the largest technical university in the Netherlands. 4TU.ResearchData is a repository for data and software from science, engineering and design domains. TU Delft, 4TU.ResearchData, as well as other organisations within the natural and engineering sciences in the Netherlands jointly form the TDCC-NES consortium.
