Deadline: tomorrow

The Faculty of Sciences is a leading faculty where employees and students work in a dynamic, international environment, and where personal and academic development are highly valued. Our people are inspired by curiosity, to expand fundamental knowledge and look beyond boundaries. For science, and to contribute to the major societal challenges of tomorrow.

Research within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences ranges from mathematics, computer science, astronomy, physics, chemistry, and pharmaceutical sciences to biology and environmental sciences, and is conducted at eight institutes. These institutes also offer eight bachelor's and twelve master's programs. The faculty has grown significantly in recent years and counts more than 2800 employees and over 6000 students. We are situated in the heart of the Bio Science Park, one of Europe's largest science parks, where university and business meet.

The Institute of Biology

Research at the Institute of Biology Leiden (IBL) aims to work on the scientific basis of biodiversity and health. This is reflected in our guiding principle Harnessing Biodiversity for Health. We conduct innovative research to answer fundamental questions and solution-oriented research to address major societal challenges. Think of protecting biodiversity in nature, developing sustainable biotechnology and agriculture, and promoting good health. Our research focuses on four research themes: Bioactive Molecules, Host-Microbe Interactions, Development & Disease, and Evolution & Biodiversity.

The IBL environment is never boring: where else would you find zebrafish and zebra finches side by side? Are we working with Arabidopsis thaliana? Is DNA genotyping a daily task? It is an exciting, internationally oriented, and inclusive place to work and study, and we warmly welcome you!
