ICFO is offering 1 Predoctoral fellowship position to well-qualified graduate students, who wish to obtain a doctoral degree in the Optoelectronics Research Group at ICFO.

Our PhD-program brings together top-level training and teaching for young scientists , benefiting from the extensive course offerings of local universities and focused instruction by ICFO professors, in a stimulating, international and interdisciplinary environment . PhD-students have the opportunity to take advantage of our network of excellence , consisting in partners of national and international research institutes and universities, as well as industrial partners in the field.

The successful candidate will be joining the Optoelectronics group led by Prof. Dr. Valerio Pruneri. The group has experience in studying and developing new advanced materials, devices and systems for information and communication technologies, in particular displays, image sensors and cybersecurity. Its main driving goal is to carry out research which bridges academia and industry, by developing fundamental ideas with great potential for revolutionizing future photonic products.

This fellowship is associated with the research project Generación de Conocimiento, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The project will introduce and develop optoelectronic devices and systems using the combination of latest technologies, such as nano-structured optical surfaces, photonic integrated and electronic chips, together with quantum processing and artificial intelligence. It will introduce new designs which will enable applications in imaging for surveillance, bioscience and security.

The candidate will undertake the following main tasks:

  • Make simulations and designs of optical nano-structures and devices.
  • Develop experimental set-ups in an optical/quantum laboratory and, when needed, fabricate samples.
  • Study the applicability to imaging and sensing of environment, biological and chemical matter.

El contrato es parte de la ayuda PID2022-137952NB-I00, financiado por MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 y por el FSE+
