Offer Description

[Background of the recruitment and description of the project]
* Background of the recruitment and description of the project
This is to recruit post-doctoral fellow(s) on the finance of KAKENHI project (23K20037). In this International Leading Research, KAKENHI project (23K20037), we are going to conduct fundamental research to realize innovative structural metallic materials managing both ultra-high strength and large ductility/toughness based on new strategies that we have recently found. At the same time, we will foster the next generation young researchers who are familiar with both experiments and theoretical calculation/data science (Dual-Sword talents) through international joint research among the groups of world-leading scientists in six different organizations (Kyoto Univ., Osaka Univ., UC Berkeley, MIT, Chongqing Univ. and Univ. Lyon). The successful candidates will spend time in both groups working on experimental studies (Kyoto U, UC-B and CQU) and those working on theoretical calculation/data science studies (Osaka U, MIT and U Lyon) for certain periods to experience both research field and to foster Dual-Sword talents who are capable of pioneering new innovative research fields by combining both experiments and theoretical calculation/data science.

[Work content and job description]
The successful candidates will work in the fields of both experimental/computational materials science and engineering to understand and reveal the underlying deformation mechanisms of metallic materials with high-strength and large ductility/toughness.

The representative foreign universities/researchers recommended in the project are shown as follows:
[Experimental site]
Prof. Andy Minor at University of California, Berkeley (USA):
