The Department of Plant Production Sciences aims to contribute to the qualitative improvement of food, the environment, and health through the improvement of plant functions and productivity in response to domestic and international food supply and demand, the diversification of plant resource use, and global environmental changes. The department also aims to engage in research and development of scientific and practical technologies in agriculture based on life sciences, and to develop human resources with advanced expertise, broad agricultural background, and international mindedness, backed by theories of life and social sciences.
The Laboratory of Horticultural Science in this department is in charge of education related to horticulture in the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture, and conducts research and education aimed at improving the productivity and quality of horticultural crops such as fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers, and contributing to the development of horticulture.
The professor to be considered for this position must have outstanding research achievements in the field of horticulture or related plant sciences that contribute to the development, production, and utilization of horticultural crops, and be able to contribute to the development of the relevant research field and the department. In addition, the successful candidate will have a sense of responsibility and a cooperative attitude toward education, research guidance, and administration of the graduate and undergraduate schools based on the mission and objectives of the graduate school and the department as described above.
