Offer Description

With advancing age, people are subject to a decrease in strength and an alteration of proprioception. This can increase movement difficulties and limit efficiency in daily life movements. Several scientific evidence have shown that neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is effective in increasing strength. Action observation, when combined with NMES, could enhance its effectiveness. The project aims to test this hypothesis by involving subjects in a four-week self-administered AO-NMES stimulation protocol. The research fellow will be in charge of experimental acquisitions involving assessments of muscle strength and power, proprioceptive acuity and physical functional efficiency. It will also be the duty of the fellow to supervise the subject during the training phases to verify adherence to the protocol and monitor progress.
