Duration:12 months-Remuneration:€ 19.367,00(gross salary)-Research project:"Micro and nano plastics (MNPs) can interact with a variety of persistent organic pollu-tants (POPs) and heavy metals (HMs), increasing their punctual concentration, enhanc-ing their bioavailability, toxicity, and dispersion, and probably facilitating the delivery of an increased quantity of toxic chemicals to living organisms. Biochar, a highly stable and porous carbonaceous material, has been proposed as a tool for the in-situ stabilization of contaminants in soil.
The present project aims to investigate: (i) whether the impact of toxic chemicals on Phaseolus vulgaris and Medicago sativa is exacerbated or mitigated by the concomitant pollution of the soil with MNPs; (ii) the concentration of the pollutants within both be-low- and above-ground plant tissues (including fruits); (iii) the magnitude with which bi-ochar can mitigate the pollutant’s impact on plant growth (...)
