Offer Description

This research endeavor focuses on advancing the understanding of paleoclimatic dynamics within an area comprising six interconnected lakes associated with the Abduan glacier: Lake Alserio, Lake Annone, and Lake Pusiano. By employing a comprehensive approach integrating sedimentological, geochemical, and biological proxies, we aim to reconstruct past environmental conditions with unprecedented precision. At least one sediment core per lake will be sampled the cores in the field. Once in the lab, each core will be sectioned into four parts. One part will undergo total chemical composition analysis following the procedure outlined by Hossner (1996). From each of the other three parts, samples will be extracted using a 1cm^3 standard sampler for the following analysis: Particle Size Analysis, LOI (Loss on Ignition); Carbonates; identifications of macrorests; diatoms; chlorophyll derivatives and total carotenoids content In conclusion, all the data collected through these methodologies will be processed using Tilia software

For the position: Duration 1 year   Remuneration: € 19.367,00 (gross salary)

  • Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences or in Geological Sciences obtained according to Legislative Decree no. 270/2004.

and who have an appropriate scientific-professional curriculum to carry out research activities established by this competition notice can participate in this public selection.

The possession of the PhD titleResearch in Chemical and Environmental Sciences is mandatory requirement for admission to the selection.

Knowledge of the English language is a preferential requirement.
