The CMCC Foundation is a scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers. Our work aims to stimulate sustainable growth, protect the environment and develop strategies for the adaptation and mitigation of climate change.
 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Our Division of Regional Models and geo-Hydrological Impacts Division (REMHI), located in Caserta, is looking for a new position of expert on data analysis, responsible for support the REMHI division in the activity related to the satellite data analysis.

Skills/Qualifications
  • M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Meteorology and Physics of the Atmosphere or Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent field;
  • experience in pre and post-processing of huge weather data-sets;
  • expert in analysing weather data with the most common software environment for statistical computing and graphics (e.g. R CRAN, MatLab, Python);
  • expert in management of different data format such as netCDF (network Common Data Form), Hierarchical Data Format (HDF), Binary Universal Form for the Representation of meteorological data (BUFR), standard binary format for exchanging gridded data (GRIB);
  • Experience with software for processing, visualization and analysis of weather/climate data (e.g. wgrib, wgrib2, ilwis, QGIS, CDO);
  • knowledge of most common S.O. such as Linux, Unix, Dos;
  • Knowledge of SQL language for the management of data in relational databases and  the HTML language;
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Benefits
  • The gross annual salary range is from 17 to 26K Euros, depending on qualification and working experience;

Additional comments

The appointment period will be initially of n° 12 starting from July 1st 2024, renewable for additional months pending a positive evaluation. Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher.

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.

Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).
