Offer Description

Identification, development and testing of materials for the electrodes (new materials for the anode and improvements in the microstructure at the cathode) and electrolyte (good chemical stability and good electronic and proton conductivity) for PCC, with focus on sealing materials and interconnectors. The PhD student will acquire cutting edge skills in: (1) identification, development and testing of materials for electrolysers, (2) tests at buttons cells and cells level, and (3) assembly of SRU and tests.

The doctoral student will be employed at Polytechnic University of Torino (Torino, Italy), where will spend two years, and will spend one year at Polytechnic University of Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain), including three months in the company Snam (San Donato Milanese, Italy). After accomplished education the doctoral student will acquire a double PhD degree from PoliTO and from UPC.

The project Unite!Energy,  is funded by the DN-Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) call of the European Commission and is offering 12 fellowships starting in 2025 academic year. Each scholarship includes periods at two of the participating universities, and a secondment to an institution or company, to study the technology in a practical environment. Specific Requirements

Master’s degree (Laurea Magistrale) or Laurea specialistica or academic degree obtained in Italy belonging to the university system pre-dating M.D. no. 509 of 3rd November 1999, as amended by M.D. no. 270 of 22nd October 2004 – with minimum final grade: 95/110; if the candidate has not obtained the degree yet, the minimum average grade of the CPU stated in the ECTS grading system.

Or a M.Sc. degree (i.e. 2° level title, as defined by the Bologna Process), issued by an officially recognized academic institution, which grants admission in PhD programmes in the country of issuance, with a minimum average grade of the CPU stated in the ECTS grading system

According to the Italian legislation, the annual net is 32.215,00 € plus mobility and family allowances as applicable and in line with the EC rules for Marie Sklodowska Curie Doctoral Networks 2022


Eligibility criteria
  • Mobility rule. At the time of recruitment, the candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date. Short stays, such as holidays, are not considered.
  • No PhD awarded. Applicants are not eligible if they have already been awarded with a PhD title.
  • Selected candidate must be willing to travel and spend a prolonged time in another institute/country of the network during the PhD.
  • Researchers must be enrolled in a doctoral programme leading to the award of a doctoral degree in at least two EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country (Joint Doctorates).
  • For further details on eligibility criteria please check in the information of each available position. All interested applicants meeting the eligibility requirements, irrespective of age, gender, race, disability, religion or ethnic background are encouraged to apply.
  • Fulfil the academic and languagerequirement.
