The CMCC Foundation is a scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers. Our work aims to stimulate sustainable growth, protect the environment and develop strategies for the adaptation and mitigation of climate change.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Our Division of Regional Models and geo-hydrological impacts (REMHI), located in Caserta, is looking for a new position of Climate & weather model research assistant for supporting the REMHI Division research activities in the field of climate simulations and in the framework of the different national and international activities currently on going.

Skills/Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (or equivalent);
  • Knowledge of the main numerical algorithms for solving: Linear Systems of Equations, Systems of Nonlinear Equations, Ordinary Differential Equations;
  • Knowledge of common operating systems (as Windows, MacOS);
  • Knowledge and capability to use the Main Mathematical Libraries;
  • knowledge of FORTRAN and other programming languages as MATLAB, Python;
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system;
  • Knowledge of SAP data base;
  • Knowledge of climate data management program (as CDO, NCO);
  • Capability to prepare technical / scientific documentation, also in the context of projects;
  • Availability to travel (limited period);
  • Availability to take part in face-to-face meetings at the REMHI headquarters in Caserta;
  • Enthusiasm for the research and the work within young and multidisciplinary team.

Additional comments

The appointment period will be initially of 12 months starting from July 15th 2024, renewable for more additional months pending a positive evaluation. Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher.

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.

Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).
