Ref. no. 017254
University College Dublin (UCD) is seeking applications for a Technical Research Scientist to assist with the development of mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics at Systems Biology Ireland (SBI). Proteomics is one of the main high throughput technologies used in systems biology approaches. The increasing demand from a large and growing user base and the rapid technological developments in this field require an expansion of our workforce to meet service requirements. Thus, the post holder will support the work in the proteomics service including the analysis of routine samples, the implementation of new techniques, improvements to work-flows and enhanced use of the existing infrastructure. This will be of particular importance in ensuring adequate proteomics support is available to researchers on SBI-led programmes such as Precision Oncology Ireland.
The successful applicant will be part of the Kolch Group at Systems Biology Ireland (SBI; https://www.ucd.ie/sbi/team/groups/kolchgroup/ ) which has close collaborations with a wide range of clinics, industry and other academic organizations. The post holder will work closely with other proteomics specialists, computational modelers, experimentalists, and clinical/research students. To be successful in the role, candidates will need to be experienced in biochemistry or protein analysis and have a solid understanding of MS-based proteomics.
In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project.
Salary Range: €42,800 - €52,800 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 17th of May 2024..
Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 12:00 noon (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
