The Technical Officer will play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs, experimental project work (capstone, MSc, PhD level) and research activities in the school. They will provide vital technical and training support to a variety of areas ensuring continuity of research and teaching activities throughout the Discipline.

This is a permanent full-time on-site post.

Hours of Post: 36.5 hours per week

Salary: Appointment will be made on the Technical Officer Pay Scale Salary Scale] at a point in line with Government Pay Policy [€35,382 to €54,786 per annum]. New Entrants to the Public Sector will be appointed on Point 1 of the Scale, €35,382 per annum.

  • Qualifications for New Staff (from 1 January 2007) Entry to the profession will require a relevant Honours degree i.e. Level 8 NFQ qualification in engineering or materials science
  • National Certificate on Entry- Qualifications for Existing Staff (before 1 January 2007)
  • The minimum entry for staff will be the 1st point of the Technical Officer scale unless they have prior service in the public sector in an analogous role – then salary determination will apply.
  • N.B. The post holder if an MSc holder on entry, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience (that must be relevant), may be appointed at Senior Technical Officer level.
