We are seeking a talented and motivated administrator to join the Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education as Senior Executive Assistant. The successful candidate will support the administrative needs of the DICE (The Development and Intercultural Education Project) Director in the department.

The DICE Project – Background

The Development and Intercultural Education Project (DICE) was established in 2003 and is a national Strategic Partnership, supported by Irish Aid/ Department of Foreign Affairs. It is implemented by the four publicly-funded ITE providers offering Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Professional Master of Education (PME) degree courses at primary level, viz.: Dublin City University (DCU); Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education, Maynooth University (MU); Marino Institute of Education (MIE), and Mary Immaculate College. 

The overall goal of the DICE Project is to collectively embed Development and Intercultural Education within the four primary level ITE providers, through ensuring exposure to critical Global Citizenship Education (GCE) for all ITE educators and student teachers, so that primary school teachers are equipped to integrate GCE in their classroom practice thereby helping to build a more just and sustainable world.

Along with a variety of cross-institutional  Project activities, the DICE Project supports Lecturer positions in the four Institutions. The DICE Network, comprising the DICE lecturer from each of the four Institutions, is responsible for the implementation of the newly agreed Irish Aid Strategic Partnership Plan which will run for five years from 2023 – 2028.The DICE Director leads and supports the Network in the delivery of all Project activities.

The four key strands of work outlined in the Strategic Partnership Plan and their intended outcomes are as follows:

1)Teacher Educators:

Enhanced confidence and competence of teacher educators to design, deliver and model quality GCE in ITE at primary level

2)GCE Across ITE Programmes:

GCE competences embedded in the design and delivery of a number of programmes (e.g. B.Ed., PME)

3)Collaboration, Advocacy and Outreach:

Increased cross-institutional and sector wide engagement in relation to GCE dialogue, advocacy, partnerships and policy

4)Research:

Research conducted to support the embedding of GCE across the partner institutions.

Salary

Senior Executive Assistant (2024):   €44,298 – € 54,075 p.a. pro-rata (7 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
