Applications are invited for a 10.5 months post (end date 31st December 2023 with the possibility of extension subject to funding) of a Research Scientist within Biomolecular and Biomedical Science.
We have a vacancy for a Research Scientist to lead a UCD team carrying out wastewater-based epidemiology in Ireland to quantify SARS-CoV-2 and variants of concern. This research, which is funded by the Health Service Executive and European Commission DG Environment, is carried out in collaboration with the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, the National Virus Reference Laboratory and Uisce ireann.
The Research Scientist will lead the UCD laboratory team and will be involved in all aspects of this project including team leadership, laboratory management, wastewater analysis, quality control of method development. The successful candidate will join a vibrant interdisciplinary team consisting of microbiologists, virologists, civil engineers, environmental biologists, statisticians and modellers, and will combine exciting research of high academic standard with the application of research findings in the field.
Salary Range: 44,000 - 53,000 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
