Programme Officer - Ukraine-SAR Europe

 Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued. We are seeking a Program Officer for Scholars at Risk Europe (SAR Europe).

Scholars at Risk Europe (SAR Europe), hosted by Maynooth University, Ireland, is the European office of the global Scholars at Risk network (SAR). SAR is an international network of over 650 higher education institutions in 42 countries, whose mission is to protect scholars and promote academic freedom. SAR meets its mission through three core activity areas: protection (casework or direct assistance to at-risk scholars); advocacy (campaigns for individuals and to promote academic freedom); and research and learning (publications, conferences, workshops, and trainings).

SAR Europe seeks a Programme Officer to contribute to implementing the MSCA4Ukraine scheme, a new fellowship programme funded by the European Commission’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) to support displaced researchers from Ukraine. The scheme currently enables over 120 researchers from Ukraine to continue their work at academic and non-academic organisations in 21 EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries, while maintaining their connections to research and innovation communities in Ukraine. The scheme also plans to facilitate researchers’ reintegration in Ukraine if conditions for safe return are met, and contributes to strengthening the Ukrainian university and research  sector and its collaboration and exchange with the international research community.

MSCA4Ukraine is being implemented by a consortium comprised of Scholars at Risk Europe hosted at Maynooth University, Ireland (project coordinator), the German Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and the European University Association (EUA). The French national PAUSE programme, hosted  by the Collège de France, and the global Scholars at Risk Network participate as associated partners. The Programme Officer – Ukraine will play an integral role as part of a small team of SAR Europe staff based in Ireland and will liaise closely with the global offices of the SAR network, based in the United States and with the MSCA4Ukraine partner organisations in Germany and Belgium. The Programme Officer will report to the Programme Manager – Ukraine.

Salary

Administrative Officer II (2024): €42,893 – €47,926 p.a. (3 points) with annual increment.

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
