Position Summary

Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Researcher position (2 years initially, with the possibility of a 2 year extension) based in the School of Mathematical Sciences, University College Cork, Ireland.

The Post-Doctoral Researcher will work on the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI)-funded project `Ocean flow induced by internal wave-current interactions’, as part of a research team lead by Dr. David Henry (UCC). This project will use tools from the fields of nonlinear partial differential equations, dynamical systems, Hamiltonian systems and integrable equations to address several gaps in our theoretical understanding of internal water waves. This project will involve collaborative interactions with a research team led by Prof. Rossen Ivanov (TU Dublin).

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out high-level research related to the research project, submitting publications regularly to refereed journals and participating in national and international conferences. The Post-Doctoral researcher will also be expected to interact closely with postgraduate research students connected to this project.

Prospective start date: early January 2023

Post Duration: 2 years (with a possibility of 2 year extension)

Salary: €39,522 - €45,609 p.a. (IUA PD1 Salary Scale)
