Applications are invited for the following Post in the Technological University Dublin:
Post: Post-Doctoral Researcher - PREDICT Project - School of Mechanical Engineering (Fixed term specified purpose basis for up to 5 years with funding in place for 2.5 years) (Reference: 127/2024)
Location: Currently located in TU Dublin, Grangegorman, Dublin 7.
Hours of Work: A 37 hour working week is in operation.
Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the Post-Doctoral researcher Salary Scale i.e. €46,447 gross per annum. Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Incremental credit may apply in line with University policy.
Closing Date: 28th May 2024 at 5.00 p.m. (Irish time). Late applications will not be accepted.
It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place in week beginning 17th June 2024. The interview assessment will be 50 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 6 minutes duration.
The topic of this presentation will be as follows:
"Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Building Energy Performance Assessment through Adaptive Methodologies and Stakeholder Engagement"

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities required for the role as outlined below and must satisfy all of the essential criteria:
Essential
- A Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Building Modelling, Building Monitoring, Building Physics, Energy Systems, Sustainable Buildings or a closely related discipline (Essential).
- Evidence of research experience and knowledge related to several activities listed in the Principal Accountabilities for this post (Essential).
- Experience in interpreting and analysing data and using statistical techniques, preferably related to building energy use (Essential).
- Knowledge of research techniques and methodologies used to obtain and analyse energy use in buildings, for example building modelling, monitoring, occupant data collection or other approach (Essential).
- Commitment to high quality research (Essential).
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their demonstration of meeting every essential criterion so are asked to clearly outline how their experience and qualifications meet the criteria.
Desirable
Candidates may be shortlisted on the basis of none, one or more of these desirable criteria and are asked to clearly outline how their experience and qualifications meet the criteria.
- Candidates will ideally have experience in guiding others in research and coordinating with partners and stakeholders (Desirable).
- Ideally the above knowledge and experience of the candidate is evident in their strong publication record (Desirable).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a range of stakeholders such as occupants, building professionals, industry partners and academics (Desirable).
- Strong mathematical skills, particularly in relation to datasets and/or the determination of relationships between parameters. This can include the integration of data or information from multiple sources (Desirable).
