We are seeking a full-time post-doctoral researcher for 24 months in the Department of Biology at Maynooth University. The department and research group offer excellent research conditions with state-of-the-art infrastructure in a highly dynamic and collegial environment. The project is collaborative in nature working together with researchers from the departments of Chemistry and Mathematics and Statistics within Maynooth University and researchers in Germany and Norway. The research project will investigate the proteomic and metabolomic responses of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens containing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) plasmids. We will develop systems biology maps of the internal pathways of the bacteria-plasmid interactions and identify key molecules and proteins required by the pathogens to resistant antimicrobials. These data will be utilized to develop targets for chemical inhibitors. This research position will focus primarily on the metabolomics aspects of the project, including performing the metabolomics (via NMR Spectroscopy or mass spectrometry) experiments and analysing the data. The team will analyse all data together to overlay the proteomics and metabolomics data to form the systems analysis.
