Applications are invited for a temporary post of a 017194 - UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2 within UCD School of Medicine.

UCD Centre for Experimental Pathogen Host Research (CEPHR) is now seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the development and implementation of an integrated surveillance system for infectious disease in animal populations in Ireland including a metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) diagnostic platform and bioinformatic pipeline for Pathogen X/Y Discovery.
This research project will be conducted as part of the One Health - ALL Ireland for European Surveillance (OH-ALLIES) programme coordinated by Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) and funded by the European Commission under the EU4Health work programme to develop and enhance one health one island surveillance across the island of Ireland.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a biological science and solid knowledge and/or practical experience in some of the following areas: molecular biology, molecular virology and/or molecular diagnostics; RNA/DNA extraction from different sample matrices and/or at single cell level; DNA/RNA sequencing; data management, bioinformatics and biostatistics.
There is a potential start date of the 1st of June 2024
Post Doc Level 1 Salary Range: €42,783 - €49,177 per annum
Post Doc Level 2 Salary Range: €50,540 - €51,961 per annum

The PD2 post is intended for researchers that have completed PD1. As with the PD1, if you have already completed your PD2 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD2, or your total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 6 years, you should not apply and should refer to Research Fellow posts instead.
