Offer Description
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Post Doc Level 1 or Level 2 within UCD School of Medicine/Systems Biology Ireland.
University College Dublin (UCD) is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the construction of Digital Twins in order to address drug resistance and improve treatment responses in cancers of children and young adults (CAYA). The Digital Twins are computer models constructed from multiomics data obtained from cell lines, biological model systems, and patients. To construct the Digital Twin models we are using a combination of AI/ML and ODE based modelling.
The successful candidate will need to have solid knowledge and/or practical experience in at least one of the following areas: (1) bioinformatics, especially the analysis of genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, and/or proteomics data; (2) AI/ML methods, such as regression analysis, unsupervised and supervised ML, and neural networks. The Fellow should be self-motivated and comfortable working with collaborators from different disciplines including mathematical modelers, biologists and clinicians. The project involves collaborations with pediatric oncologists from Childrens Health Ireland and international sites. The post will be based in SBI at UCD and the successful applicant will be part of Kolch Group (https://www.ucd.ie/sbi/team/groups/kolchgroup/ ).
Post Doc level 1 Salary Range: €42,783 - €49,177 per annum
OR
Post Doc Level 2 Salary Range: €50,540 - €54,965
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 23rd February 2024.
Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 17:00hrs (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.
The PD1 position is intended for early stage researchers, either just after completion of a PhD or for someone entering a new area for the first time. If you have already completed your PD1 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD1, or you are an external applicant whose total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 4 years, you should not apply and should refer to PD2 posts instead.
The PD2 post is intended for researchers that have completed PD1. As with the PD1, if you have already completed your PD2 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD2, or your total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 6 years, you should not apply and should refer to Research Fellow posts instead.
