Post Summary

The Head of Preservation & Conservation will have responsibility for the programme of preservation & conservation to enable effective access to and use of Library collections, both heritage and modern. The post-holder will provide leadership and guidance in implementing the vision for the University’s and the Library’s sustainability goals. The post-holder will provide leadership and oversight to the Preservation & Conservation team in ensuring the progression of collection risk mitigation plans, minimising risks to the collections and ensuring the disaster plan is kept vital and updated. The post-holder has responsibility for the environmental conditions in which collections are housed throughout the different Library buildings, inclusive of the conservation of the Old Library building. The post-holder will engage with grant organisations in pursuing funding. The responsibilities of the Department also include oversight of the collection care management of off-site Library storage.

Post status: Permanent

Hours of Post: 35 hours per week


Salary:

This appointment will be made on the Library Keeper Schedule B salary scale (€95,004 to €122,682 per annum) in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (
