University College Cork is seeking applications for the role of Director of Governance (Deputy Corporate Secretary), within the Office of Corporate and Legal Affairs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic senior governance professional to join the Office of Corporate and Legal Affairs team, which supports the delivery of the University’s strategic plan, provides a framework for good governance, enables innovation, enhances the reputation of the University, and protects it corporate memory and recorded legacy.

Under the general direction of the Corporate Secretary, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing the following areas:

•            Corporate governance

•            Corporate secretarial matters

•            Policy development

The Director of Governance will play a key role in enabling the University Community to meet the ever-growing governance requirements.  This role will further develop and implement systems and processes to embed good governance practice across the University and its subsidiary companies and will provide the foundation to enable the University to achieve its strategic goals in a sustainable manner.   

The key responsibilities include:

•       proactively managing compliance with the governance requirements of the statutory and regulatory framework for Irish Universities across the University

•       supporting the work of the University’s Governing Authority and Governing Authority Committees

•       working with the General Manager/CEO of the University’s six subsidiary companies on corporate secretarial matters 

•       managing the implementation of the Policy Framework across the University

•       providing leadership and direction to assigned staff resources

Appointment may be made on the Senior Admin III Salary Scale: €84,684 - €119,988 (Scale B) / €80,449 - €113,991 (Scale A)  

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
