Description of Post

Within the School of Science and Computing, the Dept of Natural Resources, and the Environment at the Galway City campus of the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) currently delivers the following programmes:

  • BSc Hons in Applied Freshwater and Marine Biology
  • BSc Hons in Agriculture and Environmental Management
  • BSc Hons in Undenominated Science
  • MSc in Applied Marine Conservation
  • MSc in Conservation Behaviour
  • International MSc in Marine Biological Resources.
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship for the Blue Economy
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Marine Spatial Planning

Our Dept has strong links with Mountbellew Agricultural College on the Mountbellew Campus of ATU where many elements of the BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and Environmental Management are delivered.

In addition, we offer research Master, and PhD programmes with the Marine and Freshwater Research Centre (MFRC) https://mfrc-atu.ie/ at ATU. Many of the staff in the Dept are active researchers aligned to the MFRC.  At the interface of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems our teams conduct research focused on achieving three important outcomes:

  • Enabling sustainability
  • Conserving biodiversity
  • Improving productivity

Given the continued expansion of our programmes and research related to agri ecology we now wish to recruit an Assistant Lecturer relevant expertise.

The role will involve delivery and continuing development of programmes within the Dept and may include teaching and research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Essential Qualifications

  • An HonoursDegree (2.2 or higher) in a relevant Level 8 degree[as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)], or equivalent.
  • At least three years relevant post-qualification experience.
