[Research Field and Overview]

Symbiobe Inc. is an environmental biotechnology venture originating from Kyoto University, established in January 2021.

We have unique cultivation technologies for photosynthetic bacteria and production technologies for biopolymers and other useful substances, and by promoting industrial implementation of these technologies, we are building a resource-recycling material production platform that makes effective utilization of CO2 (carbon dioxide) and N2 (nitrogen) in the air.

To further strengthen and accelerate the development of large-scale culture technology for photosynthetic bacteria, we are looking for a new member to join us in the research and development of new technology.

[Job Description] 

Following 2 positions are opening;
1: Lead research projects on the development of nitrogen fertilizers and bio-stimulants from photosynthetic bacteria, and acquisition of competitive funds.
2: Lead research projects on the development of aquaculture feed from photosynthetic bacteria, and acquisition of competitive funds.

[Job Scope]
- General operations necessary for smooth execution of duties within the R&D department.
- Coordination and collaboration with CEO/CTO management
- Collaboration and coordination with external research institutions, collaborating companies, funding sources, and other stakeholders.

[Qualifications and Experience]

Academic background
Ph.D. in Microbiology, Plant Science, Soil Science, Life Science, Polymer Science, Fisheries Science or related fields

Required experience/conditions
One of the following experiences:

- Experience in research of culture and/or biomaterial production using microorganisms.
- Experience in molecular biology research for genetic engineering of microorganisms.

- Experience in research of plant and/or soil science, especially, including those field tests.
- Experience with photosynthetic microorganisms and/or fertilizer R&D is a plus.

Preferred conditions
- English: Business level
- Japanese: Conversational level is a plus

[Benefits and Conditions]

Work conditions

- Full time (09:00-18:00 Lunch time: 12:00-13:00)

- Days off include public holidays, New Year's holidays (Dec. 29 - Jan 3), Summer Vacation (The total number of annual holidays is over 120 days.)

- Full two-day weekend system

- The workplace premises are completely smoke-free

Remuneration and other provisions

- In principle, the six months of employment is considered a trial period.

- Monthly Salary: 330,000 yen to 500,000 yen (determined based on experience and ability)
- Transportation Expenses: Provided (within prescribed limits)
- Stock Options: Eligible for grant based on the system after the rules are established.

- Health Insurance and Social insurance will be applied.
