Reykjavik University (RU) invites applications for the position Dean of School of Technology, which comprises the Department of Applied Engineering, the Department of Computer Science, and the Department of Engineering.

The Dean of the School of Technology, the Dean of the School of Social Sciences, and the Rector of RU initiate the formulation of policies for the University, oversee its implementation, and hold responsibility for academic development within RU.

Each dean is responsible for the management and operation of their faculty. Both deans divide responsibility and supervision through teaching and research within the University. The dean also holds a position as deputy rector. The position is 100% administrative position and is indefinite.

Main tasks and areas of responsibility

  • Promote consistency between the policies of RU, of the School of Technology and of its constituent departments
  • Support for the operation of the departments within the School of Technology
  • The long-term and annual budget of the School of Technology and its departments
  • Quality of the University's teaching and research in consultation with the Rector and The Dean of the School of Social Sciences
  • Consultation with departments and other units within RU concerning the development of support services
  • Communication with parties outside the school

Qualifications

  • Full professorship in the fields of expertise within the School of Technology
  • Extensive international experience in academic work environments
  • Experience in management in university environments, including finances
  • Extensive experience in teaching and research
