Offer Description

The academic subject focuses on issues related to people's different identities (gender, social, ethnic, class, etc.), the discrimination that results from them and the effects of discrimination on the mental health of the people who suffer it. It focuses first on understanding the mechanisms of construction of collective identities and then on the analysis of the discrimination that people experience based on them, such as negative representations in the media, bullying in all contexts, as well as discrimination in the field of education, work and health. The main axis of the cognitive object is the understanding of the effects that the above discriminations have on the mental health, social life and interpersonal relationships of individuals on the basis of their different identity. At the same time, emphasis is placed on advocacy and rights defense practices within the framework of the principles of equality, respect for diversity, inclusiveness and social justice. The epistemological focus on these issues presupposes the ability to investigate the construction and perceptions related to different collective identities and the critical analysis of the approaches to diversity and the social and scientific processes that have been developed in Greece and the international space in the direction of the acceptance of the way self-determination of each individual, respect for diversity and inclusiveness.
